Basic information

The current Pi wallet requires preparation for a confirmed Pi acquisition. The core team is asking you for two things: "Confirm Wallet" and "Migration".

The Pi you're acquiring from the main screen of your Pi Network app isn't entirely yours yet. Unless you complete KYC, it's just a number with no value. That number means "the expected maximum amount of Pi that you can claim ownership of after you've completed all the steps."

In other words, the Pi you will receive after completing KYC has already been issued by the core team, and the process of deciding which wallet you want to store it in is the confirmation of the wallet, which is this step.

How to confirm

If you look at STEP.3 in the mainnet checklist, you will see a screen like the image above. However, your screen probably has nothing written in the area I marked with the red box. This area is where the public key of the wallet you confirmed is automatically recorded when you complete confirming the wallet.

Now when you click on the checklist title, a separate window will pop up asking you to enter the mnemonic (passphrase) of the Pi wallet you created. And you can confirm it simply by entering it.

After confirming, check that the green checkbox and your wallet public key are displayed correctly as shown in the screenshot above.

Importants

  • Confirm of the Pi wallet is possible with only one wallet. If you have created more than one wallet, pay attention to which wallet to confirm.
  • Although not required, it is recommended to periodically check that your public key address is correct, even after confirming the wallet. There are no actual cases of damage yet, but theoretically, if your Pi account is hacked, it is possible for someone to secretly create a new wallet and confirm it. However, I think that once you complete the "migration" that will be done after KYC approval, you don't have to be careful anymore.

In the next post, I will explain the “lockup” setting, which is checklist STEP.4 ↓
